The "2-hour Introductory Course" comprises the first 2 hours of the "Foundation Course".

Do not buy this course!

I have used all the Michel Thomas courses conducted by the great man himself but this is really not worthy of having his name on the front. Harold Goodman progresses painfully slowly and merely repeats the same phrases over and over again. He teaches as if he is speaking to a two-year-old:

"The word for 'is' is 'shi'. How do you say 'is'?"
"Shi"
"What is the word for 'is'?"
"Shi"
"What is 'is'?"
"Shi"
"To say 'is', you say...?"
"Shi" etc.

The lessons are not "enjoyable" and "natural", they are frustrating and unnaturally slow.

What's more is that Harold frequently states things that are completely untrue. He misses vital grammar points and gives words meanings totally different to what they actually mean. And the native Chinese woman doesn't even seem to notice!

I didn't buy this course - I borrowed it from my library for 60 pence and that was a waste of money.

There are many ways to learn Chinese to a good standard but I am afraid this is definitely not one of them.
